Gilles Diniz

Biography

Gilles Diniz is a journalist at the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA). He is the author of the book Nas Águas do Tempo (2021) and the illustrated books Nia in the Killer Fleas (2021), The Little Caterpillar (2021) and Nia's Little Book of the Dead (2021). He composed the soundtracks for the films As pedras que falam (2022), Do Outro Lado da Linha (2023), Tudo Tem Seu Tempo (2023) and the podcast Kisses for Johnathann (2023). Since 2021, he has collaborated with Intermitências – Brazilian journal of Proustian studies, in which he publishes illustrations and the translation of an essay by Marcel Proust unpublished in Brazil. In 2018, he wrote and produced the film As pedras que falam (2022), directed by Aodren Buart. He directed the music video 'Clima Ameno', by Gabi Andrade and co-directed the documentary Do Outro Lado da Linha (2023). Since 2018 he has been a member of the Sétima de Cinema Study Group, with which he has produced important events such as the Varilux French Cinema Festival (Cariri edition, 2019), Mostra 21 (2020), Claro-Escuro – Encontro Bimestral by Audiovisual (2022) and mounted the exhibition Sétima em Revista (2022). He is an editor for the magazine Corte Seco (UFCA).
