Staten is a British writer & director based near Brighton. He is currently completing post-production on his jet-black comedy satirising the self-help industry, A Serial Killer's Guide to Life. He trained on the NFTS Emerging Producers course after initially training as an actor, and has been selected as writer & director for talent schemes including BAFTA's Guru Pro & Loco's SKY Comedy Mentor Scheme. His pitch-black comedy short This Way Out, set in a struggling euthanasia centre, screened at over 30 international film festivals, won 5 international awards and was long-listed for a BAFTA. It has since screened on television around the world on channels including HBO Europe & The Sundance Channel, while appearing on cinema in Japan. Staten runs production company Forward Motion Pictures with production and writing partner Poppy Roe. They are currently in development with several female-led projects, including an elevated horror feature film & a darkly comic TV drama. Feature film A Serial Killer's Guide to Life is set for a late 2019 release.
